Borderline Personality Disorder Treatment

EBT Collaborative provides comprehensive, DBT-based treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) for adults and teens. Treatment is individualized to each client’s needs and may include comprehensive DBT, family involvement, trauma treatment, and other evidence-based approaches.

DBT Is the Most Evidence-Supported Treatment for BPD

Dialectical Behavior Therapy was developed specifically to treat Borderline Personality Disorder and remains the most extensively researched and effective treatment available. Multiple randomized controlled trials have shown that comprehensive DBT significantly reduces the self-harm, suicidal ideation, psychiatric hospitalizations, and treatment dropout that characterize severe BPD.

Importantly, BPD is treatable. Earlier characterizations of BPD as a permanent or unmanageable condition are not supported by current research. With the right treatment, sustained improvement is achievable.

What BPD Looks Like

BPD is a disorder of the emotion regulation system. Common features include:

  • Intense and rapidly shifting moods

  • Fear of abandonment and unstable relationships

  • Impulsive behaviors that cause harm

  • Self-harm and suicidal ideation, particularly when emotionally activated

  • Chronic emptiness

  • Difficulty with identity and sense of self

  • Dissociation under stress

Many people with BPD also have a significant trauma history, which can complicate treatment when not addressed directly.
